We loved our Summer 2021 stay on Kirwin Trail and almost headed back there, but my goal is to keep discovering new areas. There’s always that excitement of chasing and discovering a new cool place! So happens that Louis Lake Road in the Shoshone National Forest was a perfect (for us) discovery. Click HERE to see our full trip report and video of the Louis Lake area.
Taking HWY 28 south from Lander, WY, you will see a big snow chain parking area and the Louis Lake Road turn off. The road is a maintained gravel road and easy for any rig travel on.

There are sites within the first half mile. We just drove until we found an empty one and was very happy with the location.

Not too far back that we lost cell signal yet well off the main road and distant from other dispersed sites to offer privacy and quiet.

Camp Review: El Capitán State Beach
Our Stay Sitting high on oak covered bluffs is our campground and our final night on the California coast. At the end of a 2500 mile road trip, this was a treat. We were graced with perfect weather and a shady campsite to end our whirl wind trip. I’ll start by stating we rarely pay…

This is the 2nd time we landed in this specific area of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. A convenient dispersed camping area near Grand Tetons National Park. All the forest camping near the park is in designated sites only. At Toppings Lake there are 27 sites and a few of them having 2 or more sites…

Granite Creek Road USFS – Camp Review
If you’re following our 2022 travels, you know we traveled from WY to our Idaho lot. Found a couple nice camping areas along the way. We then leave ID and wind our way back to WY. Granite Creek Road was such a peaceful stay for us. We stayed for 3 days overlooking the Hoback River…

Looks like a lovely area to camp, Cheryl! I enjoyed reading the details. I would love to visit Wyoming! Hope you don’t mind but I linked back to this post for Sunday Stills (road trip theme).

Hi Terri – I have an actual Sunday Stills post coming so you can update my link back to the Roadtrip post – maybe this evening otherwise tomorrow. Glad you liked the camp review. My WY time was limited to where my brother in law lives which isn’t very interesting. Now we’ve discovered a handful of areas besides the Grand Tetons, that are quite interesting, fun and places we will return again and again.
