This week’s photography challenge is to show images taken that reflect my favorite song lyrics. Um ok. I’m terrible at song lyrics, quoting movie lines, remember titles and artists names. Technically, I rarely remember someones name unless we have a relationship of some sort. So how do I come up with photos?

It took part of a day and a long walk for a special song to surface with memories. Many of us, associate a tune or song with an event especially an emotional event. I won’t over share the personal story here, but know that this song reflects me.

Feeling beaten down is not my thing and I decided to challenge myself to my first backpacking trip.

The Narrows in Zion National Park

I researched and bought everything I needed. I trained for weeks to build up stamina and broke my boots in.

Angel’s Landing Zion National Park

I had a buddy to coach me through everything new…big and small. Another lesson I learned is accept offers of help and never be afraid to ask for help.

Great Friends in the Narrows

The Eye of the Tiger – Lyrics courtesy of musicmatch

I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar

Katy Perry

Even now as my memories crystalize, my feet are tapping, I feel the excitement of that first trip and how strong I felt conquering The Narrows. Like the song says, I went from zero to my own hero.

I went from zero

To my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (hey!)

Already brushing off the dust

You hear my voice

You hear that sound

Like thunder, gonna shake the ground

You held me down, but I got up

Badlands in Anza Borrega State Park

Many of us love nature showing off its turmoil because it can reflect your own mood. Mother nature shows off her power with thunder and then offers peace with a rainbow. Do you also look for the end of the rainbow when they magically appear?

Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Get ready, ’cause I’ve had enough

Katy Perry

Time moved on and so did I, but only with determination and a strong sense of where I was headed next. That period of life is passed yet, I still carry it with me. Now I know it wasn’t a terrible ending of a story rather it was the beginning of a new story.

Maybe we never find the end of the rainbows because there isn’t one; there’s only bright beginnings.
