Snowy Unfinished Shouse

It is that time of year where we can sit down and count our blessings, revisit our life’s pivotal points, and be #thankful. This post could go on forever with me recalling all the many experiences, family, friends, work associates, and pets that I am thankful to have had in my life. Fortunately, I decided it’s best to just dial it in to just one person…the Big Guy. He calls me little and I call him big, yet we fit quite well together.

Besides being a true partner he is a genuinely caring person inside of a somewhat intimidating exterior. His brain is always on absorption mode which keeps me on my toes. Who needs google when I have Steve.

I’m thankful not only for his love and partnership but also for enabling a new life full of adventure and hard work. Yes, work. Even though we’re retired, we’re never idle.

I’m convinced my life experiences would’ve stalled several years ago if we hadn’t met. I would’ve had a content and good life but not an adventurous, bigger life. My list of accomplishments and new experiences since we’ve been together include:

Not only a hot air balloon ride, but a wedding!

River Rafting on the Salmon River in Idaho just last year.

Picking up construction skills and the requisite bruises and sore muscles. If I’m not dealing with bruises or sore muscles, I’m dealing with paint or drywall dust in the hair.

Visiting over 20 National Parks & Monuments and numerous wildlife for the first time

Learning that air tanks and compressors are wonderful things to have around

Taking apart my kitchen sink plumbing by myself to fix a clog

Learning how to do video editing

Learning to dive and diving in Cozumel, MX

Picking up construction skills

And now we’re building our shouse.

Flying the Trusses

And, the list could go on and keeps growing. Who do you have that has pushed you into new areas, adventures and direction? My big guy is my rock and I’ll always be thankful that he found me.

For this Thanksgiving, we will be on our own in the fresh snow! Next week, we will travel to Colorado for a Holiday family visit. It’ll be the first in many years that my immediate family is in one place to celebrate the holidays together. It’ll be a slightly late Thanksgiving with an early Christmas all mixed into one. I will also be with my two favorite gals in the whole world, my daughter and my sister. I’m thankful for both of them for helping me be me.

Our road travels should have clear weather with no more snow (or rain) in the forecast.
