Rainy Days
Any weather can create road trip stress and a lot of sogginess. We have yet had to adjust our plans due to rain and simply just gear up and enjoy the day. Traveling with wet weather gear is necessary any time of year.
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

We don’t dance, but we love to get out for walks and hikes. Well, I do confess, I do dance when know one is watching!
Spring time rains bring icy mornings, nourishing the soil for springtime growth.
My only rainy day desire is that I had more opportunities to take rainy day photos. Most of my raindrop photos are from the inside looking out. One exception was our trip in Banff National Park. Our Canada visit was in September and the weather gods presented us with a mix of sunny and rainy ones. Rain or shine we were able to hit our top sights to see. Visiting Lake Moran was a top highlight of the trip and the rain seemed to make it even more beautiful.
When the clouds do finally break, you might be treated to a show. The sunsetting behind the Grand Tetons viewed from our campsite was up lifting.
And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.

Making our way upward was a little wet but you’d have to agree that this view was worth it. My curly hair didn’t agree, but that’s what hats are for.

Beautiful image of the kayaks and canoes on Lake Moran. I’ve never been there but now I want to see it for myself!

Everything in Banff and Jasper was spectacular. We traveled after summer was over thinking crowds would be better. Knowing we wanted to stay several days, we arrived in the area by mid day. Campground 1 was full, campground 2 was closed for maintenance and campground 3 had a few sites so we picked and stayed put. It was full every night before 5pm. Most sights and trails were easier to navigate if you arrived early. Lake Moran has smaller parking available and gets closed. We had missed our window the first time and decided to have an early dinner or late lunch then head back out there in the late afternoon. That was a win…had my First Lady Moose encounter that evening too. I’d love to go back and tackle more hiking.

No raining on this parade! Better to try and turn it into a memory. Driving in downpour is no fun so, one time we pulled into a farmers market, picked up a fresh pie, warmed it up and enjoyed the rain from the inside for a bit! Lake Moran was one of several highlights…I doubt there’s ever a poor photo of that colorful, glacier fed lake.
