Owls and things that go “boo” and even “who-who” in the night seem to fit our black or black & white weekly photo theme. Thanks for visiting my weekly Sunday Stills blog post, especially this week, where I finally can show off a couple fantastic photos I recently captured.

With the theme being tied to our color of the month, Black; which is also a Halloween color and a major US October event, I chose these owls to show off. I’m still working on using my new Sony camera to it’s best potential and once I captured these two rock star photos, I finally feel like I’m making some progress. Although the owls have some black coloring, I decided to showcase them in both their full color version and a nice black and white version.

Who ‘dat
Who Are YOU?

Those eyes! They watched me for a length of time. Their long stares worked in my favor as I continued snapping away. I really enjoy the color version of my first owl but the black and white photo of the 2nd one turned out very well too. Which owl photo is your favorite?

Here are a few addilitional black colored critters that I’ve recently run into:

This young calf caught me snapping away and sauntered my direction with a very curious “who are you and what are you doing” kind of look.

I’ll leave you with another black and white comparison to enjoy, a no longer in use bird’s nest. We see 1 to 2 a year as summer comes to a close and the winds start blowing more aggressively.
