MY BLOOMING PASTELS
Our photo color theme for May, is anything pastel. What better way to show you all a few images from our recent Maui and Tahiti Island trip. But before we take off to the islands, we have a few home pastels to boast about.
Have you ever returned home and found some nice garden surprises?
When we left earlier in April, nothing was growing and the yard hadn’t waken from its winter slumber. Upon our return, the yard was not nice. It was hosting the usual overgrown grass, underwatered trees, and an army of weeds attempting a take over.
Our surprise was finding apple blooms having large bee parties and my first new bulbs in full bloom dancing amongst the tress.

From far away the French Polynesian is a very green place.

Look closer and there are flowering shrubs everywhere.

Couple the lush green and tropical flowers with the turquoise water and blue sky scenery makes you forget about the humidity wrecking havoc with your hair.

Before Tahiti, we spent a week on Maui. This was a 2nd visit for us so we didn’t run around quite as much the initial trip. We did two car trips and one included a return visit to the local lavender farm. Although June is the best month to see the lavender in full bloom, the farm has a beautiful walking area with a variety of plants.

Until next time! Thank you for stopping by.

Although I’m enjoying the desert sunshine right now, your images of the tropics are calling my name, Cheryl! I’ve always wanted to travel to Tahiti! I’m glad your apple tree blooms are in gear! Ours were before we left.

Are you back in AZ for a visit? The trip was great and not having a schedule, I had quite a bit of slack in our days. That kept it relaxing even though we seemed to be unpacking and repacking quickly. Did get a lot of rain on the last 4 days which put a damper on the adventure…got a lot of reading done.

Yes for a short trip. My dad passed away in April. His service is memorial day weekend here in Fountain Hills.

Very nice samples of pastels! I have that exact flower in your last picture currently blooming in my front yard. Isn’t spring grand!

It is grand indeed. What is the name of that flower? I’m so terrible with remembering my plant names. It’s a very pretty bloom.

The official name is Leucospermum, but it’s better known as Pincushion Protea. The variety we have is California Sunshine, but there are many different colors available, mostly reds, oranges, and yellows.
