Hello to our weekly photo theme post. Water is this weeks theme. Admittedly, I had grand plans of a more in depth post this week showcasing my favorite watery destinations. Like water, I’ve decided to flow another direction. Since we’re not technically traveling and site seeing this summer, I decided I’d update you on what we are doing.

We are kicking off the new home build. How’s that tie into a water everywhere theme? It’s a home built next to water and the center of our 60’ x 74’ structure is a lap pool. Steve believes it’s all about his shop, but it’s really about the water!

“Water is to me, I confess, a phenomenon which continually awakens new feelings of wonder as often as I view it.”

Michael Faraday

As we entered into retirement, we knew it was time to also identify our future forever home. Somewhere more rural was preferred yet not more than 2 hours from an airport. Somewhere with space to let Steve has his shop. Somewhere easy to launch our regular traveling life. So we spent a several weeks traveling through a variety of areas.

And just like in our travels, as I hunted for either a home for sale or a build lot for sale, anything near water was always in the “let’s check this area out” list. Water is my go to place of calm, movement, and rejuvenation.

Our Future Backyard Water Feature

Along with a wonderful creek 6 months of the year, our future home will be a shouse or shop + house building.

It has everything we want in the plans plus a few dream items including an indoor pool! What better way to enjoy water all year round. It is like a fairy tale in the making.

Once excavation starts it may turn out to be a nightmare, but we’ll get through it. We might not smile much during the next several months, but I’m sure the roaring creek out back will drown all of our doubts and wash away all our frustrations daily during this upcoming build process.

Until we’re in full build more we are diving into the weeds.

The building site is shaping up and fingers crossed in a month or so we’ll be able to break ground!

Our Idaho Build Site

Come enjoy our sunset with us. This is how we wrap up the end of our laborious days as we continue to prep the lot. Caring for our abundant trees and controlling weeds is a lot of work. I look forward to stringing up a hammock in the shade near the creek someday.
