Everywhere White Photos #SundayStills

We’re exploring the color white for this week’s Sunday Stills. On one hand, white can seem boring. Yet, I have an interesting photo collection to show you all. Other than never wanting to wear white due to it’s dirt attraction super powers, I adore white. It is fresh, invigorating and clean. It is also a blank slate or canvas for building anew. How do you see white? For photos, white is very common. We see white in the sand, stars, clouds, eyes, bread, waves, rocks, and so much surrounding us. It’s not unimaginable that I have many photos with a white something. So how to narrow down the list for this blog post? I came up with the following:

• W = Weeds
• H = Heady
• I = Icy
• T = Tulips
• E = Eerie

Most likely not quite what you expected, especially weeds. Then again, when do I write what you expected? Enjoy the collection of white photos below:

W for Wishing Weeds

Plants are cool. Invasive plants, aka weeds, are not cool. Perhaps, this is my anti-plant section? For a few years now, we’ve been overrun by dandelions. This image is from a couple years ago, before we started building on the lot. We’d arrive in time to turn on irrigation and our field of nightmares would already be waiting for us.
If they weren’t so invasive, I would not mind having a few dandelions around. Who doesn’t want to pick one, just to blow on it and make a wish?

H for Heady

When I think back to our first backpacking trip over the Sundance Pass, heady definitely comes to mind. A combination of three things make this unforgettable: the wow factor, my heart pumping and lungs burning. This mountain view is unforgettable and made me quickly forget the burning lungs and tired body.

The Grand Tetons is a favorite mountain area for me. I’m not sure how it captured my heart but it did. The snow covered grand peaks may not be the Himalayans but they are beautiful.

Closer to us in Idaho are the Sawtooth Mountains which we also adore. We’ve camped in a variety of areas around the Sawtooths. Eventually I’d like to through my backpack on and head into those mountains. I’ll have to do it sooner than later before my age catches up to me.

A more recent heady experience I had was looking down from the top of the Seattle Space Needle. We enjoyed the views from this iconic downtown recently during our Thanksgiving week road trip.

I for Icy

Icy roads and icy cold are not enjoyable. However, both rimfrost forming on trees enveloped in fog (see below) and powdery snow settling on our tree branches, are two reasons I enjoy our snow.

T for Tulips

Tulips as a flower may not be what comes to mind when thinking of white. Remember I stated white is also a blank slate? Well, the white tulip symbolizes new beginnings. A perfect add to our white theme being it’s the new year and time for fresh starts.

E for Eerie

Eerie that spine tingling feeling hits me when the fog settles in. Even sound is muted and there’s a stillness to the air.

Fog itself feels eerie. It wraps your surroundings in a mist. You simultaneously feel smothered and chilled. Our recent road trip including a stretch through eastern Oregon. This time of year creates a weather pattern with a low fog bank. With enough moisture and the low temperatures, the landscape is changed to a beautiful frost covered world.

I have photos of so much more white because it is everywhere. The sand, waves, rocks, clouds, stars, snow, skunks, flowers, and even cows.

Today, I only offered up a small sliver of white images. However, as I mentioned at the beginning, white is everywhere. Go experience white in your world. Go explore. Experience headiness. Find beauty in both the icy and eerie fog. Thanks for visiting.
