It’s monthly color photo challenge again and the color theme is cobalt blue.
My color display is short and sweet and varied! From a very tall glass crystal holiday display to showy spring flowers to Roswell, New Mexico aliens. The alien photo surprised me when I stumbled into it. Turns out I was intrigued to see a small black light UFO attraction. Intrigued enough to buy tickets for a 20 minute walk through the UFO Spacewalk. We spent a short bit of time walking in the dark maze and enjoying the creativity.

Deep Deep Blue
Now returning you back to my standard fare of landscapes discovered while traveling, here’s a picture of Crater Lake in Oregon. We spent most of a day exploring the lake both by road and by foot.
Nearly 2000′ deep with no water outlet makes this the deepest bluest lake in the United States. The depth was first measured back in 1886 with a lead pipe and piano wire. Seems rudimentary yet it was impressively accurrate. The depth was measured at only 53′ shy of the sonic measurements collected in the year 2000.

If you follow my blog you know I’m a water lover. Here’s to being able to experience many blue lakes, rivers and ocean water in recent years plus a couple night blue skies sprinkled in.

It is quite a site to see and so unique. It can be a quick day trip like we did, or a much longer visit to spend more time hiking on the trails or even into the back country.

Such gorgeous blues, Cheryl! I love the Roswell alien image–hilarious! That must have been fun (I’ve geeked out on the CW series Roswell, New Mexico). Great shot of crater lake–fascinating about the facts you shared. I don’t know how many times we have driven within a few miles of it but have never stopped–maybe in 2023! If we don’t chat before my break, enjoy a lovely holiday season–Hans says hello to you both!

Cheers to you both as well! Crater lake is one of those one day stops that we’d like to return to and see more beyond just the lake. So much unique geology there.
