Following the light of the sun, we left the Old World
Christopher Columbus
Explorers curious about the world beyond. They not only followed the sun but learned to navigate the dark nights at sea using the stars.

Or, like Christopher Columbus, finding the light of the moon or the glimpse of a sunrise, becomes your guiding light to keep exploring. Explore somewhere new or simply explore a new day. Our trip to Death Valley National Park was full of exploration! Such a diverse area to explore and discover an outdoors like no other and the lowest elevation in North America.

We also use light houses to guide those at sea. A necessity to safely navigating safely dark and dangerous coasts.

Wrapping up a day sometimes comes too soon as when the sun begins to descend behind a mountain signaling that darkness is arriving.

Do you seek light or dark more? I seek light. The light of day, whether it be natural or man made sends me forward with purpose to accomplish something, anything even if it’s just to hug my family. However, when the day is done, I find respite and rest in the darkness. It’s quiet, meditative,
A favorite vacation is one where you can sit and watch the sun rise (or set). I just returned from Baja Point near Cabo San Lucas. Here’s our first and our final sunrises!

Fabulous photos! I’m often not up early enough to see the sunrise, but I’m seldom disappointed when I am.

We recently came back from vacation in southern Utah and managed to squeeze in a visit to Death Valley before flying home. The landscape is very otherworldly. I’m glad we visited in the winter when the temperature was comfortable enough to enjoy and explore the scenery. The morning moon in your picture looks magical.

You have captured light so expertly, Cheryl! It’s hard to argue which sunrise is better than when capturing the moon in the desert or beach. Did you drive the camper to Cabo? It has been a long time since I visited Death Valley–or was that the Salton Sea? Gorgeous shots all around!
