The Color of the Month is Aqua / Teal
I orginally published this post a in May 2022 but with my upcoming annual beach trip, it still is my perfect collection of aqua photos to share.
The color of the month being aqua suits me quite well. You see my closet is 50% aqua and teal. I’m most likely in a rut when it comes to what color clothing to buy. Besides I don’t think showing you closet pictures would be any fun. Fortunately, I’m not in a rut when it comes to finding water. Swimming laps in the local gym, gazing from the side of a mountain to an Alpine lake, immersing myself in gorgeous, blue, glacier fed waters, and, of course, I’m always up for the southern, warmer water for snorkeling or diving.
My mind quickly (which is unusual) recalled numerous beautiful, water areas we’ve visited. Below are a small set of photos from our watery Fall trip to Cabo San Lucas, MX and a little further back in time, our trip north where I was introduced to gorgeous, glacier fed lakes.
It is easy to get lost in the color and tranquility of aqua waterways.
Glacier Fed
I’d never seen a glacier fed lake until 2019 when we made our way into Canada. Even after we crossed back into the US, we got to prolong the love fest as we traveled and camped through the Cascades in Washington. The North Cascades Scenic highway is a spectacular drive. Check out our original post for my trip photos showing off the multiple lakes along the highway.

This small glacier fed pool at the end of a long hike is a most gratifying view of aqua. Grinnell glacier is the end goal of the same named trail in Glacier National Park. It was a self inflicted challenge for us completing the 10ish miles round trip. We underestimated how long we’d be out leaving our water and snacks insufficent. Hangry with 3 miles left to trudge to the car was not pleasant.

I do highly recommend this hike as long as you’re an early riser. Due to the popularity of this hike, the trail head parking quickly disappears. So, you do need to arrive and start early as this hike is very popular. Fortunately for us, the jeep is quite nimble at squeezing into little parking gaps.
Sea of Cortez and Southern Aqua Water
My first trip to Cabo San Lucas, MX was via a cruise ship. A cruise simply provides you with just a glance of any one particular port which left me with a yearning to see more. Well, I finally got more acquainted with the area beyond a quick boat ride to the arch and a margarita on the beach from that initial visit. While the town and marina was busy our hotel resort was very calm and peaceful. Check out the water view on our afternoon sailing cruise!

Although the ocean to me is not quite as mesmerizing as those glacier fed waters, it definitely calls my name. As long as we’re at the right latitude, I can jump in…and jump in I did, multiple times. For more Cabo sights and sounds check out our YouTube video.
Not only is my rash guard aqua, but my snorkel vest and the detail on my shorty dive suit are aqua (All a gift from the big guy). As you can see, I never get tired of this color or any blue for that matter.

Layer up!
Even my light rain jacket is aqua. A necessity for a Fall Washington mountain hike.

Aqua is derived from the Latin aqua simply meaning water. How appropriate that my initial thoughts were of watery adventures; of course that’s after admitting to my primary closet color addiction. Now, you all know a fun fact about me. Let me know, if one of your primary colors is aqua.

How’d you enjoy Cabo? I liked the timeshare we stayed at but I wish we were closer to town and can wander about more often. This year, it’s back to Cancun.

Aqua is a beautiful colour and suits you well. 🙂 The glacier fed waters have a lovely hue, but so does the ocean. I read your About section and see your cute puggle travels with you. What fun! 🙂

I hope I captured that lovely colour well. Yes, Mr. Cooper travels with us. He’s getting on in years (16 to be exact) and isn’t having much fun when we hit the road. Fortunately, he’s safe and content hanging in the camper.

I remember your love of teal and see your fab choices in your aquamarine images! Those glacier blues are amazing, and the Baja shot is such a stunning bright blue–almost fake looking 😉
So fun to see you yesterday!

Great to see you as well! I remember the first time I saw such aqua blue ocean and was simply in awe. Growing up on the Pacific Coast everything is all dark, sometimes green, sometimes brown looking. Even today, I still can simply sit and gaze for hours at how beautiful it is.

These are great examples of aqua Cheryl and the way you feel about wearing teal or aqua I feel about wearing orange/yellow/reds 🙂

Guess that probably applies to many of us leaning to either warm or cool colors! Glad you enjoyed and could relate!

Oh, you have a very quick mind, Cheryl! LOL! Love all these aqua/teal blues. I’m impressed that when shown side by side, the warm southern waters are nearly the same teal shade as the glacial waters. Must be a purity thing! We might be lucky later this summer to spend a long weekend at Glacier NP–this will be on my to-do list! Love all your teal clothing choices, too.

I’m hoping we make it back up to the park as well! Potentially even do our backpacking up there this year. Logistics with dog care and parking the rig can be challenging. Doesn’t help that I’m not able to fix a date until we make some decisions on the new shop and house build in Idaho. It’ll be a winging it kind of travel year.
